Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, Aircraft Structures
Glos. Permanent. Generous Salary and benefits package. You must be eligible to work in the UK and be fluent in spoken and written English. 

Our Client is a well established leader in the field of aviation support services, financially sound with a diverse customer base involving many long term contracts, seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to provide leadership, direction and control of the Mechanical design functions and maintain compliance with EASA and CAA regulations. Degree or HND/C in an aeronautical or mechanical engineering or related discipline. A solid background in aircraft design. Apprenticeship or shop-floor experience in an aviation environment. Familiarity with airworthiness regulations. 

Ability to take a global view of each task and to recognise the broader implications of design decisions. Computer literate, especially CAD. Good organisational skills. Willingness to interact with people. The job is to oversee and monitor the Mechanical output of the Design Office with particular emphasis on quality and timescales. Create and maintain close and effective liaison between the mechanical and systems design functions, the Design Office and the Production Department. Carry out annual appraisals and probation-period appraisals on Mechanical Design Office staff. Ensure that high standards of airworthiness and engineering practice are promoted and maintained within the Design Office. Ensure compliance with the requirements of EASA Part 21 J and all other relevant airworthiness requirements. All mechanical design matters and related continued airworthiness.

Provide the mechanical content for modifications and for design proposals and estimates. Provide input to new design business. Customer and shopfloor liaison. Leading by example and developing effective teams. Support the teams to ensure contractual commitments are met. Manage teams in line with company procedures and standards, assisting with recruitment, training, monitoring, appraising and instigating first line disciplinary action. Identify and action the training needs of yourself and your teams. Maintain your knowledge of the company's portfolio of services and procedures. Build positive relationships with customers, suppliers and regulators and resolve problems. 

Work closely with all internal teams, promoting good relations and team working. At all times work in a way that demonstrates the Company's business methods of being open and honest, easy to do business with and providing excellence in all of their services. Communicate fully any situation that may effect the ability of your team to achieve your targets. Maintain high standards in terms of personal appearance, conduct and respect of Company property.
